MILLWORK / CABINETRY DRAFTER

We presently have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Millwork / Cabinetry Drafter to aid the primary Millwork Engineer in manufacturing cabinets and creating shop drawings for custom millwork projects.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Converting architectural designs to shop drawings
  • Making changes to drawings during production
  • Researching shop/client materials
  • Staying up to date with new Cabinet Vision and AutoCAD and other relevant software trends
  • Coming up with creative solutions
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by General Manager or Millwork Engineer
SKILL, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
  • 1 -3 years’ experience with Cabinet Vision and AutoCAD and other industry drafting software
  • Experience in millwork and custom cabinetry. Applicants with this experience are preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret architectural millwork drawings
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Great multi-tasker
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (English)

ESTIMATOR / PROJECT MANAGER

We presently have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Estimator / Project Manager. The position will also encompass some Project Management. You will be working closely with our sales staff, shop team members, and contractors to ensure that all estimating project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track.

Responsibilities include completing thorough takeoffs of material and labour costs for bids, establishing effective project communication plans, as well as the proper execution of said plans. To be a successful candidate, you will need to have proven experience in millwork cabinet production and construction, estimating and project management.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare commercial and residential custom millwork estimates, quotations and tenders including follow-up
  • Analyze and comprehend project plans, specifications and details
  • Examine drawings for conformity and errors
  • Analyze project financials and labor costs
  • Prepare Takeoffs / estimates of costs of materials, labor and equipment
  • Ensure quality and timely completion of project assignments while meeting cost targets
  • Source materials for project estimation
  • Oversee projects and monitor their progress and completion
  • Have a thorough degree of knowledge with regards to the various aspects of a project
  • Coordinate with team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines and schedules
  • Meet with project team members to identify and resolve issues
  • Prepare and submit status reports to the General Manager
  • Establish effective project communication plans and ensure their execution
  • Facilitate change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule
  • Obtain customer acceptance of schedule
  • Manage customer satisfaction within the project transition period
  • Conduct post-project evaluation and identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
SKILL, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
  • 1 year minimum hands-on, relevant estimating experience. Applicants with millwork cabinet-making experience are preferred
  • Experience and working knowledge of millwork processes and materials (i.e. sheet goods and hardware)
  • Experience valued: AutoCad, Cabinet Vision and Takeoff Estimating
  • Blueprint and shop drawings reading skills required
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Fluently speak, read and write English
  • Must have time management skills with attention to detail
  • Must complete projects within specified deadlines
  • Must have current driver’s license and personal transportation
  • Proficiency in MS Office package
  • Have strong understanding of project management methods.
  • Project budget management experience would be an asset.

CABINET / MILLWORK SERVICE TECHNICIAN:

We are seeking an experienced Shop Worker for our Maxville, Ontario location.

  • Source materials and prepare purchase orders for the required materials for projects and inventory.
  • Record received materials and allocate to projects.
  • Maintain inventory of stock materials.
  • Program the CNC for manufacturing of cabinets. We will train if you have no experience but have all other qualifications.

Scope of the position:


Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for the design, estimation, sales and project follow-through on residential and commercial contracts. Working with other team members and Cedar Ridge processes, the position will appeal to someone who is looking for a situation that requires a talent for detail and organization combined with excellent people skills and creativity.


Critical competencies:
•Initiate and respond to sales opportunities
•Consult with client in all aspects of design of kitchen and/or other cabinetry and millwork
•Use Cabinet Vision CAD program to create design drawings and prepare proposals
•Finalize customer design, pricing and sales process


Key areas of responsibility:

•CAD experience – ideally Cabinet Vision.

Position: Cabinet/Millwork Installer Helper

Cedar Ridge is seeking an Installer’s Helper for our Custom Millwork and Cabinetry. We have a proven track record providing Custom Millwork throughout Eastern Ontario for many years, and continue to grow.


This is a permanent, full-time position. Applicant will work with our Installer under his supervision and direction to assist him onsite with delivery, setup and installation. This position offers a growth opportunity, as the successful applicant will eventually advance to working independently on job sites.

Applicant must be energetic, willing to learn and have 1 year shop or woodworking experience. Some evening and/or weekend work may be required. Wage is $15.00 - $16.00/hour, commensurate with experience. Cedar Ridge Designs Inc. provides a benefit package.
